ABOUT MADELINE

I began my career in New York, working for a leading private collector specializing in post-war and contemporary art, and important 20th century design. Following graduate school, I joined Sotheby’s, New York, starting in the American Art department before becoming a Specialist on the Contemporary Art team.

During my tenure at Sotheby’s, I honed my expertise through comprehensive research, advising clients, sourcing works of art for auction and private sale, executing appraisals, and partnering with an international group of colleagues to ensure exceptional results. Prior to establishing Locke Contemporary, I worked at the Smithsonian’s Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, the national museum of modern and contemporary art in Washington, D.C.

I graduated from Duke University with a B.A. in Art History and hold a Master’s in Modern Art, Connoisseurship, and the Art Market from Christie’s Education. I am a member of the New Art Dealers Alliance (NADA) and ArtTable’s DC Chapter.

I live in Washington, D.C. with my husband and two children.
